Accessibility
We want every person in the Willamette Valley to be able to use this website and book a chimney or fireplace visit, including people who use a screen reader, navigate by keyboard, need larger text, or cannot use a mouse.
What we have built in
- Every page can be operated with a keyboard alone, and the element you are on always shows a visible focus outline.
- A "skip to main content" link is the first thing on every page, so you are not forced through the menu each time.
- Headings run in order, landmarks (header, navigation, main, footer) are marked up properly, and every image carries a real text description.
- Text and background colors are chosen to meet the WCAG 2.2 AA contrast level, and the page still works when you zoom to 200% or use your own text size.
- Form fields have permanent visible labels — not placeholder text that disappears — and required fields say so in words, not only in color.
- Animation is kept minimal and stops entirely if your device is set to reduce motion.
- Touch targets are large, because we would rather a shaky tap still land on the button.
Our aim
We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA. Accessibility is not a box we ticked once; every time we change this site we check it again.
